Major study about CenteringPregnancy’s impact on racial disparities in preterm birth underway in Greenville

For years we have been doing research that has found that CenteringPregnancy was associated with a decrease in the risk for preterm birth. In addition, we’ve had indications that this association was stronger for our African-American moms.

Now the National Institutes of Health is sponsoring a large randomized control trial here at the OB-GYN Center in Greenville to test our hypothesis that CenteringPregnancy is decreasing rates of preterm birth and narrowing our racial disparities in preterm birth rates. More details about the study itself can be found here. This will be the largest trial of group prenatal care every conducted.

We anticipate the study to continue through 2019, with results available in 2020.
